High Tech Ideas for Low Tech Classrooms
In the first of a series of Language Learning & Technologies workshops, presenter Penelope Coutas gave a ‘Show and Tell’ of tips and tricks for the classroom, particularly those where ICT access is limited.
From simple and fun gadgets to engage learners such as quiz buzzers, , and using to practical ideas about hardware such as using shoe organisers for storage, comparing headsets, microphones and adapters, Penelope demonstrated a variety of tried and tested ideas. Participants also learnt about as a means of storing, organising and managing collaborateive ideas and Green Screening for creating backdrops for video podcasts and for real time role-plays. Although time was limited to a 2 hour session, participants walked away with a very low tech (ie paper copy) summary loaded with hundreds of ideas and threads to follow up on and discover technologies to suit their own contexts.
