Support a welcoming and community-focused College canteen
(SCBS) is seeking a reliable, friendly, and service-oriented Canteen Assistant to support the daily operations of our college canteen.
This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, values teamwork, and takes pride in creating a positive experience for students, staff, and the wider College community.

About the role
Working closely with the Canteen Coordinator, the successful applicant will assist with food preparation, serving, cleaning, stock management, and maintaining a clean and welcoming canteen environment in accordance with FoodSafe WA regulations.

Key responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operations of the canteen
- Prepare and serve food and refreshments
- Support stock management and check deliveries when required
- Count and record daily takings alongside another staff member
- Maintain cleanliness of benches, equipment, and kitchen areas
- Follow security and cash-handling procedures
- Support a positive and cooperative environment for staff and volunteers
- Adhere to College and canteen policies and procedures at all times

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Reliable and able to work effectively under pressure
- Competent with money handling and basic administrative tasks

Essential requirements
- Working With Children Check
- A personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ
- Active participation in a church or Christian community, exemplifying Christian beliefs, behaviour, and practices
- Acceptance of the College’s Statement of Faith
- Ability to build cooperative and supportive relationships with the Board, Principal, staff, students, and parents
- Commitment to personal best practice
- Ensure decisions are impartial, fact-based, and fair
- Model appropriate and proper channels of communication
- Consistently act in the best interests of the College and its ethos
- Adherence to all policies and procedures outlined by SCBC
- Commitment to maintaining a child-safe environment in line with the College’s values and policies
- Commitment to workplace health and safety, including following OH&S policies and reporting hazards
- First Aid Certificate (desirable)
