School Finance Manager

We are seeking a capable and values-aligned School Finance Manager to support the financial health and sustainability of our community.

About the Role

This is a permanent part-time position (0.4 FTE / approximately 2 days per week).

 

Days of work will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

 

Salary will be negotiated based on experience and qualifications, with an indicative full-time equivalent range of $80,000 – $95,000 plus superannuation.

 

This is a consolidated finance role that brings together bookkeeping, payroll, compliance, accounts management, and month-end reporting within one accountable position.

 

Reporting directly to the Principal, you will take ownership of Xero and the day-to-day finance function, with the opportunity to lead improvements in systems and processes where appropriate.

 

What the Role Involves

This role supports the financial sustainability and smooth business functioning of the school.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Bookkeeping, payroll, BAS preparation, and finance administration
  • Month-end reporting, reconciliations, and budget monitoring
  • Managing accounts payable, supplier payments, and financial records
  • Managing accounts receivable, payment plans, and debtor follow-up
  • Supporting audit, compliance, insurance, and funding requirements
  • Liaising with banks, accountants, auditors, and external providers
  • Supporting the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and cashflow processes
  • Contributing to ongoing improvements in systems and business processes

The following would be highly regarded:

  • Qualifications or certifications in bookkeeping, accounting, business administration, payroll, or related fields
  • Experience working in a school or not-for-profit environment
  • Experience using Xero and cloud-based finance systems
